The Living Seas Team based at CBMWC kick started the new decade with a beach clean on Monday 20th January. Laura and Beth were joined by five volunteers and regular beach cleaner Geoff (the Jack Russell). We focused our beach clean efforts along Traeth Gwynn beach in New Quay.
The team collected four bags of rubbish which included half of a welly, a deflated football and a shard of glass almost a metre in length!
Living Seas volunteer Aline also led a clean-up at Llanrhystud beach on Saturday 25th January. Thirteen volunteers helped Aline to collect a whopping 13 bags of rubbish from the beach! A staggering 59% of the litter collected was plastic. Staff from Pencarreg Caravan Park had to help transport the litter to the pickup point.
We’d like to say a massive thank you to those that helped out (including our four legged friends) at both events. If you’re interested in becoming involved then keep an eye on our events page for upcoming litter picks.
